Eligibility

Student applicants must be–

  1. The first-generation university student from his/her family (i.e. his/her grandparents and parents DO NOT hold any degree from any university) to study at one of the Hong Kong’s universities, and is able to provide one of the following#, the relevant templates are available to download via Scholarship website:
    • A recommendation letter by the principal or teacher of his/her previous secondary school, or
    • A declaration issued by Home Affairs Department of HKSAR
  2. A full-time student who will continue their Year 2/3/4 full-time bachelor’s study at HKSYU;
  3. Having a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale and eligible for next year’s admission;
  4. A local student (Please view the definition in Scholarship website);
  5. Aged 25 below (i.e. born on or after 1 September 2001); and
  6. Proactively participating in community services

Note:

  1. This year’s scholarship interview will be conducted physically in late Oct or early Nov 2026; no online/hybrid interviews will be arranged. Shortlisted students must attend in-person.
  2. #Applicants are advised to allow sufficient time to complete the declaration or to contact secondary school to fill the recommendation letter. However, please note that the date on the documents MUST fall within the application period (i.e. 7 May to 16 July); late submissions after the application deadline will NOT be accepted.
  3. ^ Applicants will be required to upload a copy of their academic transcript for the 2nd semester of 2025/26 academic year as proof.
