Student Support Services at Office of Student Affairs (OSA)

Step 1: Say No

Tell the harasser that the behaviour is unwelcome and must be stopped immediately.  Don’t ignore the behaviour, it might be taken as tacit consent.

Step 2: Keep a Record

Write down the details of the incidents, including the dates, times, locations and witnesses, as well as your reactions and feelings.

Step 3: Seek Advice

Consult the Student Equal Opportunities Officer, department head, or hall warden for their impartial support in your own decision on how to resolve the matter.  

Step 4: Mediation

You may opt to resolve the complaint through mediation or other informal measure, or decide to proceed with the formal procedures.

Step 5: Complain

You can lodge a formal complaint under the University’s procedures for Handling Discrimination/Harassment complaints.
